About Hand Rehabilitation Specialists:

Hand Rehabilitation Specialists is a therapist-owned private practice that specializes in the rehabilitation of all types of injuries and conditions of the hand, arm, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. Our staff of highly-skilled occupational and physical therapists has more than 100 years of combined experience and includes six Certified Hand Therapists (CHTs). We provide comprehensive, patient-oriented assessment and therapy that includes involving you in treatment planning and educating you about all aspects of your injury and treatment plan.


Job Description:

The successful candidate will offer effective evidence-based and patient-focused care in a holistic approach. We emphasis a team work environment with other therapists, aides, and referral sources with the following duties:

  • Evaluates, determines treatment plan, treats, and re-assess all patients at Hand Rehabilitation Specialists (HRS)
  • Utilizes independent judgment and discretion in determining patient treatment programs and frequency of treatments, based on the prescription from the referring physician and assessment of patient
  • Directly treats all patients and utilizes aides at her discretion to assist with treatment, following OT/PT licensure guidelines
  • Communicates regularly with fellow OTs or PTs who share patients at HRS
  • Maintains good lines of communication with referring physicians: completes written evaluations of patients’ progress prior to patient returning to see their physician; communicates with physician if questions regarding patient’s care arise
  • Assess patients for need of adaptive equipment and/or custom orthoses and fabricate as required
  • Fully responsible for determining appropriate continuing education necessary to maintain licensure and submitting requests to HRS for payment of education if eligible

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in the area of Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy with hand therapy experience or CHT preferred (will consider therapists with hand therapy fieldwork experience and/or therapists on track to become a CHT)
  • Formal manual therapy skills training and subsequent clinical experience
  • Custom orthoses fabrication experience preferred
  • A high-level working knowledge of orthopedic OT/PT, anatomy, surgical procedures, and modalities and procedures
  • Open to working between two clinics in Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley as needed
  • Basic Word processing skills for completion of reports
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, meet deadlines, and work efficiently
  • Demonstrate good leadership skills and provide supervision of therapy aides
  • Interest and motivated to continually learn and grow within the profession
  • Ability to follow all HIPAA guidelines; HRS policies and procedures and OT/PT Codes of Ethics and Conduct.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, sit, reach, bend, lift 25 lbs, push/pull 25 lbs, grasp with 45 lbs of force, and possess fine motor skills for writing and typing.
