Wicked problems are defined as a problem for which there are multiple causal factors and no singular solution. This virtual workshop will position complex regional pain syndrome as a ‘wicked problem’ in hand therapy, and propose individualized pragmatic multi-faceted assessment and treatment strategies from contemporary evidence to address this highly variable condition.
Presenter bio:
Dr. Tara Packham is an occupational therapist with over 25 years experience in hand therapy. After completing a PhD under the mentorship of Dr. Joy MacDermid, her program of research at McMaster University focuses on persistent pain syndromes and moving evidence into practice. She has published 14 peer-reviewed papers addressing complex regional pain syndrome, and is an active member of both the Canadian and American Societies for Hand Therapy.
